The crash happened shortly before 5 p.m. on La. 442 east of the Tangipahoa River Bridge. Gary Passman, 60, of Husser, was driving a 1992 Mazda Miata west when he drove off the right side of the road, then over-corrected and ran off the left side of the road, said Trooper 1st Class Dustin Dwight.
Investigators determined that the crash occurred shortly before 5 pm, when a motorist named Gary Passman, 60, drove off the left side of the roadway while traveling westbound in a 1992 Mazda Miata. Albers was seated in the passenger seat.

Albers, 68, was properly restrained in the front passenger seat when the 1992 Mazda Miata driven by Husser resident Gary A. Passman, 60, left the roadway of LA 442 shortly before before 5 p.m., state police said. However, Albers suffered severe injuries when the car went down an embankment, flipped and landed upside down. The parish coroner's office pronounced him dead on the scene.
