This video shows you how to change the highbeams, which are also known as brights, in your 2000 Saturn LS1. In some Saturns your headlights and highbeams are the same bulb - it is possible for the headlight portion of the bulb to burn out and for the highbeams to continue to function properly and vice versa. Replacing the bulb will restore functionality to both. Highbeam bulbs grow dimmer by over 20% over time, therefore we recommend changing both bulbs on your LS1 at the same time, even if only one is burnt out - this will allow both highbeam bulbs to have the same brightness.

Be careful not to touch the glass part of the new highbeam bulb with your finger when changing it on your LS1. Touching the new highbeam bulb will cause the bulb to burn out quicker. If you accidentally touch the glass part, wipe it off with rubbing alcohol before inserting it into your LS1.

The 2000 Saturn LS1 is available as a 4-door, 5-seat sedan. Starting at $16,750, the 2000 Saturn LS1 (M5) is powered by a 2.2L, 4-cylinder engine mated to a manual transmission that returns an EPA estimated 24-mpg in the city and 32-mpg on the highway. The top of the line 2000 Saturn LS1 (A4), priced at $17,610, is powered by a 2.2L, 4-cylinder engine mated to an automatic transmission that returns an EPA estimated 23-mpg in the city and 32-mpg on the highway.

The video above shows you how to replace the battery in your 2000 Saturn LS1. We recommend changing the battery in Saturns every 4 years. Although some batteries last much longer, most batteries begin breaking down chemically after four years, so you could experience dimmer headlights and other negative effects before you have a dead battery in your LS1 that you need to replace.

Replacing the battery in your LS1 involves removing the terminals. When you reconnect the terminals, your radio presets are likely to be cleared out. In some LS1s, you may need to re-enter a security code to get your radio to work again. Check for this code in your owners manual - it will usually be either a sticker or small card in the booklet. If you can't find it, call Saturn and they will give you the code for free. In many Saturns, the transmission "learns" how you drive over time and makes adjustments, so you may experience altered driving dynamics as your car re-learns your driving style after changing the battery.

This video shows you how to fix minor oil leaks in your 2000 Saturn LS1 and how to tell if the fluid leaking from your LS1 is oil, how to check your oil level and how to fix the oil leak. Low oil levels can wreck your engine, so it is important to be proactive about oil leaks, however small. Oil leaks in the 2000 LS1s with the 2.2 liter engine are often due to a bad seal in the drain plug - the metal washer in your drain plug can only be tightened a few times before it loses its ability to seal and should be replaced periodically to prevent leaking. Replacing the metal washer should only be done when you change the oil in your LS1, fortunately the video above shows how to fix the minor leak in the interim.

Make sure that your engine is cold and that your LS1 is parked on a level surface when you check the oil level as both of these things can cause the oil level to read low. Check our video to see what type of fluid is leaking from your LS1 if you need help figuring out what type of oil is leaking from your LS1.
