The team over at WRAPworks recently released images and details about their latest project involving the luxurious Mercedes-Benz CL500 where they fitted it with an exclusive and unique wrap as well as tweaking the CL’s engine.

The new luxury Coupé is ready for any challenge on motorways and rural roads thanks to Mercedes’ most powerful engines to date. The eight-cylinder powerplant in the CL500 delivers 285 kW/382 hp and generates a maximum torque of 530 Newton metres from 2800 rpm. As such the newly developed engine outperforms the existing V8 unit by 26 percent in terms of output and 15 percent when it comes to torque. Equipped with four-valve technology, variably adjustable shifting camshafts, a two-stage intake module and tumble flaps in the intake ducts, the new V8 is among the most advanced, powerful engines in its displacement class. The CL500 accelerates from zero to 100 km/h in just 5.4 seconds (previous model: 6.3 seconds).

2002 Mercedes-Benz CL-Class CL500 2dr Coupe (5.0L 8cyl 5A)

A D V E R T I S E M E N T S While driving my 2002 Mercedes CL500, I noticed smoke coming from the engine bay and the smell of something burning. Upon inspection it was discovered that a hydraulic suspension hose ruptured and sprayed fluid onto a catalytic converter. This resulted in a large amount of smoke and small flames starting to appear right before the passenger side engine bay was hosed down with water. The Mercedes dealership advised this was a known issue and a recall was issued/performed back in 2005/2007. Mercedes advised me no further work would be done under the recall. I am reporting this to NHTSA as this is a dangerous safety related recurring defect reported on many websites/forums, yet Mercedes refuses to take appropriate action to permanently resolve it. - Sherman Oaks, CA, USA

If you need to do a portrait sessions or light a scene for your video, the Photogenic CL500 is an affordable option with a big output. It also does very well for product photography. Most importantly, it won’t make your models sweat or need to escape the heat of the light. And a comfortable model is one that performs well when given directions or when they need to get into character.
